Abstract

If the speaker can be driven digitally, it becomes possible to perform all processes from the input to the output digitally without analog components such as a power amplifier, and a small, light, and high-quality speaker system can be achieved.
In this paper, we propose a basic idea of Digital-Speaker and a digital-driven dynamic-type loudspeaker that provided with multiple-voice coils employing multi-bit delta-sigma modulation.
The piezo-electric-speaker, which was utilized in previous paper, is replaced with the voice coil.
The prototype implemented with a FPGA, CMOS drivers, and dynamic-type loudspeaker.
THD and SPL are about 0.42% and 104dB, and the output power is 1W even when power supply is 1V.
