A new dynamic unidirectional microphone has been developed. The microphone has excellent frequency response and polar characteristics and low proximity effect. In addition, the microphone exhibits low pop, mechanical noise, distortion, and hum sensitivity. It is the purpose of this paper to discuss the considerations involved in the development of such a microphone as well as the measurements used to determine its performance.
