Recent improvements of professional magnetic recording systems have been complimented by improved magnetic tapes. For music mastering, certain characteristics and considerations are paramount. This paper describes the development and performance of a new recording tape optimized for the music industry. Its features, including wider dynamic range, increased durability, and a new backing, are discussed.
