A new implementation of the voltage variable filter principle utilizes integrators and two-quadrant transconductance multipliers to reduce noise from records, tapes, and musical instruments. The filter, whose bandwidth is automatically controlled, restricts the bandwidth only during the absence of significant low or high-frequency signal content. Included in the system are sharp notch filters to eliminate hum and a variable threshold slew rate limiter to attenuate clicks and pops.
