Parametric audio coders provide a significant computational improvement over standard transform coders when post-processing operations are to be carried out at the decoder. In this paper, we explore frequency-domain post-processing for upmix, enhancement, and virtualization and show the specific advantages provided by parametric coders for these signal modification scenarios.
