Psychoacoustic Evaluation of a Perceptual Spatial-Audio Coding Technique for Speech and Noise

A new technique for the perceptual spatial-audio coding of sound stimuli that allows individualized spatial-audio presentation was evaluated psychoacoustically. The experiments were conducted in virtual auditory space using speech and noise stimuli. There were three sound conditions: (i) `own ear,` using the listener`s filter functions; (ii) `different ear,` using another listener`s filter functions; and (iii) `encoded ear,` using a spatial-audio encoding.
