Experiments in Hearing with Magnetomotoricly Induced Tone

This paper describes the experiments in which the magnetic field around the coil currently driven by an audiofrequent signal causes the vibration of a tiny magnet stuck in the eardrum. This produces a tone registered from the outside by a tiny microphone in the outer auditory passage. The tone level is proportional to the eardrum vibration amplitude. The research into the acoustic reflex caused ipsilaterally and contralaterally has displayed certain dynamic characteristics of the ear.
