AB - Far-field pickup of large musical ensembles can use coincident, near-coincident, or spaced microphone arrays. After a brief theoretical introduction, an orchestra recording made by using the three microphone techniques simultaneously on multiple recorders will be demonstrated. . The demonstration tape has been edited to sequentially present the three basic techniques. Audible differences from each technique can then be easily compared.
