Fast Edit Point Location and Cueing in Disc-Based Digital Audio System

Two new methods are described for rapid location of predetermined and unknown points in audio stored in digital form in disk-based systems. Additional, separate data files containing auxiliary data and reduced data rate audio are created on recording to provide a base for fast searching by data matching or auditory monitoring. Either method may be used independently with a storage overhead of 13% and 6%, respectively.
