A general method is presented for smoothing high frequency response peaks present in many commercially available tweeters. Typical response peaks well above the mechanical resonance frequency of the driver are caused by a combination of diffraction, diaphragm geometry and breakup, and a secondary mechanical resonance. The resulting peak in the far field pressure response is compensated with an appropriate antiresonant network across the driver terminals. Results of an actual application are presented where a +5dB peak at 13kHz is reduced +1dB with the antiresonant compensator.
