The Application of Reverberant Field Measurements to the Evaluation of Loudspeakers and Microphones

Mean energy density frequency characteristics provide a consistent and rapid method for transducer evaluation. The use of random noise excitation and narrow band analysis provides measures of frequency response, distortion, transient behavior, dynamic range and life, which would otherwise require a multiplicity of tests, both instrumental and subjective. The required instrumentation concists of a reverberant enclosure and sound level recording equipment.
