AB - The critical audio performance parameters of linear monolithic integrated circuits are reviewed in terms of the limitations inherent in the planar epitaxial process, and a control amplifier is presented as an acceptable compromise. A number of examples are presented as typical functional audio implementations such as amplifier stages, feedback-type tone controls and output buffers.
