Subjective Validation of an Objective Model for the Characterization of the Room Acoustic Quality

This paper comments the subjective tests proceeded in room acoustics at the laboratory of IRCAM (Paris). The purpose of the tests was to validate, in the perceptive field, an objective set of acoustical criteria in order to characterise the room acoustics quality. Tested acoustic fields are created by a set of loudspeakers hanging in an anechoic room and controlled by signal processing peripherals (reverberator, delays, VCA`s). Distance judgements, preference and threshold analysis are reported and discussed.
