The development of advanced hearing prosthetic aids and cochlear implants allow many hearing-impaired people to receive audio signals. Consequently, it has been an interesting task to simulate the perception of audio with people who have severe hearing impairments or use electronic hearing aids. Results of the experiments in this domain performed with partially deaf and cochlear implanted patients are presented. Since some substantial simplifications were made for the sake of these experiments, future research is planned in order to find further methods for reliable simulation of impaired ear characteristics.
