Jan Plogsties studied electrical engineering at the University of Technology in Dresden, Germany. He received his M.Sc. in Audio and Acoustics at the Aalborg University, Denmark in 1998. In 2001 he joined Fraunhofer IIS in Erlangen, Germany, working spatial audio reproduction and audio coding. He published several conference and journal papers. For many years he was a lecturer at the ARD.ZDF medienakademie. Jan contributed to major international standardisation bodies ISO MPEG, 3GPP and ITU. Since 2009 Jan is heading a research and development team dealing with virtual acoustics and sound reproduction on mobile devices. In his team, the mobile sound processing solution “Cingo” was developed that was adopted by Google, Samsung, LG for mobile and Virtual Reality and mobile devices.
