Nuno Fonseca is the creator of "Sound Particles" software, a 3D CGI-like software for audio, capable of using particle systems to generate thousands of sounds in a virtual 3D world. The software is used in all major "Hollywood" studios, and was already used in movies like "Steve Jobs", "Batman v Superman", "Ninja Turtles 2", "Independence Day 2", "Ghostbusters" among others.
He is a professor at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (Portugal) and an invited professor at the Lisbon Superior Music School (Portugal), having a BSc in electronics engineering, an MSc and PhD on computer engineering (computer audio), with more than 20 published papers regarding audio topics.
He is the author of the Portuguese book “Introdução à Engenharia de Som” (Introduction to sound engineering), co-author of the book “Desenvolvimento em iOS” (iOS Development), and former president of the Portuguese section of AES.
Nuno Fonseca is also the creator of “VotA Utility” and “WordBuilder” text-to-sing software, integrated by EASTWEST (USA) on some of their products, and used by movie, TV and game composers around the world.
His current research work is on the use of particle systems for audio applications (sound design, reverb design, IR up-mixing, granular synthesis, 3D mixing, etc.).
