Abstract:
In the last decades new signal processing techniques made classical measurement
techniques like frequency response and signal-to-noise ratio less valuable for
assessing the quality of audio devices. New test signals and
perceptual measurement techniques are being developed to assess audio quality.
This workshop will give an overview of these new methods, including the ones
that are standardized by the ITU, PEAQ (ITU-R recommendation BS.1387) for assessing
audio quality in general (music signals) and PESQ (ITU-T recommendation P.862)
for assessing speech quality.
