Mixing Rock Records with Energy, Depth & Analog Vibe — Inside the Box
Join Toronto-based producer, mixer and engineer Brian Moncarz for a live walkthrough of his rock mixing approach. Using a real-world session, Brian will demonstrate how he builds powerful, emotionally engaging mixes that retain the energy and feel of a live performance while working primarily in the box. The presentation will focus on creating depth, punch and analog-inspired character using plugins, parallel processing and mix bus techniques. Attendees will get an inside look at Brian’s approach to drum, bass, guitar and vocal sounds, along with the workflows and creative decisions that help bring records to life. Topics covered will include: Creating “live off the floor” energy in rock mixes Parallel compression and saturation techniques Building impactful drum and bass relationships Guitar layering and width Vocal processing and emotional impact Mix bus processing and analog-inspired tone shaping Maintaining feel and dynamics while achieving polished, impactful mixes The session will conclude with an open Q+A where attendees can ask questions about mixing, workflow, production philosophy and the music industry.
