Scott WynneProfessor of Music Industry at Appalchain State University
Scott Wynne is the Director of the Robert F. Gilley Recording Studio and a full professor for the music industry studies program with a concentration in recording and production in the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University. He oversees the design, installation, and updates of the recording and production facilities, which include four studios, one lab, and a broadcast facility. His design experience has benefited various institutions such as Appalachian State University, the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts, Florida Atlantic University, the Aspen Music Festival and School, Algoma University, and the University of Miami. Wynne was previously the Chief Audio Engineer of the Edgar Stanton Audio Recording Institute at the Aspen Music Festival and School for several years, working in various roles, including Head Media Engineer. In this capacity, he collaborated with professional musicians, administrators, and conductors to enhance the broadcast visibility of the festival’s concerts. His work has involved partnerships with Aspen Public Radio, Colorado Public Radio, Minnesota Public Radio, and National Public Radio’s Performance Today program. Many of the concerts he managed were broadcast locally, nationally, and internationally. As a recording engineer, music producer, and composer, Wynne’s commercial credits include projects like the Hunger and Health Coalition’s Christmas CD, the Marching Mountaineers CD, and recordings for artists such as Kerrie Roberts. His classical credits feature recordings with Dr. Robert Falvo, Dr. Heather Coltman, and chamber ensembles led by Arthur Weisburg. Wynne has also contributed to live broadcasts for radio, including performances by Marc Andre Hamelin and the Emerson String Quartet. Graduates from Wynne’s programs have pursued successful careers in major cities across the United States and beyond, working in the fields of music engineering. Wynne holds a Master’s in Media Writing and Production from the University of Miami and a Bachelor’s in Theory/Composition from Eastern Kentucky University. He is affiliated with the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences and the Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association and is the treasurer for the Audio Engineering Society Carolinas Chapter.

Professional and Educators Audio Konference PEAK
Join audio professionals on the mountain for an intensive weekend of hands-on workshops, trainings, and networking with manufacturers and developers such as Shure, API, SSL, Genelec, LAWO, Port City Amps, DPA Microphones, Wes Lachot Design, Q-SYS, and many more! The conference will feature Education sessions, Build-Your-Own gear workshops, live demonstrations, AES member-only access events, and ample networking opportunities with vendors and colleagues.
