Engineering the Global Sound of Latin Music with Mr Sonic AES New York section has put together yet another amazing event coming up in September, on the 17th at Amazon Music in Brooklyn. Latin music has become one of the most influential genres in the world, with artists like Bad Bunny, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, Feid, and Shakira consistently topping global charts.
This session explores the engineering and production techniques behind the records that have helped Latin music become a worldwide phenomenon. Using real-world examples and live multitrack demonstrations, Grammy Award-winning producer and engineer Mr Sonic will break down the technical characteristics that define today’s Latin sound, from mixing salsa and Latin percussion to the rhythmic foundations and vocal techniques that make Latin Music so impactful.
Mr Sonic will demonstrate his workflow for blending and mixing Latin percussion. Following the presentation, attendees will be invited on an exclusive tour of the Sonic Room at Amazon music, where Mr Sonic will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the recording, production, and mixing spaces. He will also discuss his studio’s workflow, showcase the tools and techniques used, and answer audience questions during a Q&A session.
