AES PNW — Reinventing the Horn: A Novel Approach to Directivity Control in a Horn-Loaded Loudspeaker – The Biamp LVH 900
This session explores the Biamp LVH loudspeaker platform from its 2020 introduction through six years of real-world deployment in acoustically and architecturally challenging environments, culminating in its latest advancements—informally referred to as “LVH 2.0.”
The presentation will examine LVH’s beam-forming approach to pattern development, leveraging passive and DSP-based techniques to achieve line-array-like vertical control from a compact point source. The discussion will evaluate measured outcomes, predictive modeling alignment, architectural challenges, and the role of asymmetrical vertical patterns in delivering more uniform SPL across complex audience geometries.
The goal is a technical, peer-to-peer exploration of how advanced beam-forming systems can be responsibly modeled, evaluated, and applied in demanding acoustic environments.
