Atlanta Section with Clay Benning. March 18th, 2023
Summary
Clay Benning is the Resident Sound Designer for the Alliance Theater. He took the group on a tour of the 600+ seat theatre. He talked about some of the history of the theatre, including the recent rebuild. He explained some of the physical design decisions and how they are meant to influence sound. He showed the group the placement of monitors in the space and played demo music while we walked around and listened. He took the group through the theatre’s D-Mitri hardware and software configurations and about how they use CueStation. He also talked about their RF setup, what a typical show looks like, how they monitor frequencies and how they work with other RF users in the vicinity. He explained their overall Tech schedule and process.
