Daniel Shores is a three-time GRAMMY® Nominee (two for Best Surround Sound Album, one for Best Engineered Classical Album) and has recorded, mixed and mastered albums accounting for 17 GRAMMY® Nominations and 1 Latin GRAMMY® win. Shores served as the head of the Sono Luminus record label from 2006–2014 and continues to serve as the label’s head engineer. In addition to Sono Luminus, Shores has engineered albums for Bridge Records, Naxos, RCA Red Seal, Koch, Hannsler Classics, Delos, and the Steinway and Sons Record label, accounting for well over 140 albums.

In his time at Sono Luminus, he has engineered over 25 surround sound releases on Pure Audio Blu-Ray, making Sono Luminus  the first U.S. label to release albums in the format. In 2015 Daniel began working in immersive audio and now has 5 Blu-Ray releases which include an Auro-3D stream, again, the first for an American label.

In addition to his duties at Sono Luminus, Daniel has served as an adjunct professor in the Music Production Recording Technology department at Shenandoah University in Winchester,  Virginia since 2009. There he has taught location recording techniques in the remote recording practicum class as well as classes  on surround sound and recording systems. 

 Peterson Goodwyn began building his own audio gear in 2008 for one simple reason: he couldn’t afford to buy it. In 2011 he founded DIY Recording Equipment with the vision of making excellent audio equipment affordable and accessible to anyone who was willing to pick up a soldering iron. Since then, DIYRE has enabled thousands of musicians and engineers to build their own equipment, through hundreds of DIY tutorials, designs, and blog posts.

There is only one week left to register for the Student Recording Competiton, taking place at the 140th AES Convention in Paris France. The deadline is Sunday May 1st.

Attendants at the convention can submit to any one of the four following categories:

• Category 1 – Traditional Acoustic Recording
• Category 2 – Traditional Studio Recording
• Category 3 – Modern Studio Recording & Electronic Music
• Category 4 – Sound for Visual Media

Jim Anderson is an internationally recognized recording engineer and producer of acoustic music for the recording, radio, television, and film industries. He is the recipient of numerous awards and nominations for recordings and broadcasts. Jim’s recording “Modern Cool” won the Grammy for Best Surround Album at the 55th Grammy Awards and his recording “Sixteen Sunsets” was nominated for Best Surround Album at the 56th Grammy Awards.

A graduate of the Duquesne University School of Music in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jim has studied audio engineering at the Eastman School of Music and Sender Freies Berlin. During the 1970s, he was employed by National Public Radio and, since 1980, Jim has had a career as an independent audio engineer and producer. He has been a frequent lecturer and speaker for the AES and master-class guest faculty member at leading international institutes. He is a professor of recorded music with the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University and was the department’s Chair from 2004 – 2008. 

He has served as Vice President for Eastern Sections of the AES, chaired the New York City Section of the AES and was Chair of the 119th135th AES Conventions. In 2006, he was made a Fellow of the AES and was also the President of the Audio Engineering Society, 2008-2009., 123rd, 131st, and

 Big Bear Audio is a high end audio design house based in London, founded by AES UK Vice Chairman Charlie Slee. Focusing on both pro and consumer audio products, Big Bear Audio designs and manufactures analogue electronics tools for the professional and audiophile.

Experienced, dynamic and creative as a performer, musician, songwriter and record producer, Barry Marshall is all of these and more as an educator. He started the critically acclaimed student record label, Naked Ear Records, at New England Institute of Art, where he is an Associate Professor and helped develop the audio and music business program and curriculum. Since 1999 he has also been teaching at Emerson College, where his classes include Recording Industry as a Business, and History of Media Arts. 

In addition, he has toured and recorded all over the world as both a musical director for The Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame’s LaVern Baker, and as a record producer  for Baker, Peter Wolf, and Ben E. King. He was a songwriting partner to the late Doc Pomus, and he’s shared the stage on gigs with everyone from Paul Shaffer to Bonnie Raitt to B.B. King.

Most recently Barry has produced an album for Boston based artist Peter Montgomery titled Baby Sunshine.  Barry has also been working with Nashville based band the Zigos on their upcoming release.  In additon he produced three albums for Cape Verdean artist Dany Silva and is the Musical Director and Audio Producer of the One Planet Education Network, currently developing content for museums and video games. He also has become a respected lecturer/presenter at Audio Engineering  Society conferences and conventions, including at AES Budapest in 2012, AES NYC in 2013, and  AES London in 2010 and 2011. He was awarded his Doctorate in 2013 from Argosy University.

 Since the birth of Nebula in the summer of 2005, a dynamic collaboration was born between forward thinking developers, beta testers, audio engineers and equipment samplers from around the world. The research and development has gone through many stages and possesses innovative processes and technologies as of yet unheard of in other products or devices.
