The Spring 2024 Tech Talk series continues this Thursday with informal discussion, demos and Q&A. Each talk is focused on a separate topic related to a theme, which for this term is "audio signals and interfacing." You can come to one or as many talks as you like. There are no course requirements—both pre- and post-candidacy RIM students, M.F.A. candidates and non-majors are welcome.
Topic for Feb. 8th: “What is LEVEL?”
"How much?" and "how much of what?" are vital questions in audio and communication systems. Audio information exists in the acoustical, electrical and mechanical domains, so it can be measured in terms of intensity, power, pressure and voltage, just to name a few variables. Engineers benefit from fully understanding measurements of "amount" when it comes to reading meters, calibrating equipment and making creative balance decisions.
Stay tuned for future sessions on Feb. 15, 22 and 29.
