Report of the meeting of the SC-02-08 Working Group on Audio file transfer and exchange, held online, 2024-10-01.
The meeting was convened by Chair Piotr Majdak.
The formal notice on patent policy was read.
The report of the previous meeting, held online on 2024-05-21 was approved.

AES31-2-R Review of AES31-2-2019: Audio-file transfer and exchange - Part 2: File Format for Transferring Digital Audio Data Between Systems of Different Type and Manufacture AES31-3-R Review of AES31-3-2008 (r2019): AES standard for network and file transfer of audio - Audio-file transfer and exchange - Part 3: Simple project interchange, including maintenance of annex F.
Changes to AES31-2 to accommodate a 32 bit floating point format developed by Ultan Henry were reviewed. The wFormatTag will get another choice of WAVE_FORMAT_IEEE_FLOAT, with a value of 0003. The existing optional bit depth field allows a 32 bit choice, but this is intended for fixed point data. A note will be added to call attention to this and to specify that the wFormatTag being set to float will override this. This note will also be added to AES31-3 and AES31-4.
AES69-R Review of AES69-2022: AES standard for file exchange - Spatial acoustic data file format
Typos have been found in the standard document. These errors and proposed corrections were reviewed. It was felt that the changes could not be classified as editorial. Consequently a new revision is required. The corrected document was approved by the group and will be issued in a call for comment.
