SC-02-08 meeting, online, 2023-10

Report of the meeting of the SC-02-08 Working Group on Audio file transfer and exchange, held online, 2023-10-10.

The meeting was convened by Standards Manager Richard Cabot.

The formal notice on patent policy was read.

The agenda and the report of the previous meeting, held online on 2023-05-02 were not available.

AES69-R Review of AES69-2022: AES standard for file exchange - Spatial acoustic data file format
There is a new initiative titled Normalized HRTF data sets. There is a session at the upcoming NY AES convention on this topic presented by Jean-Marc Jot, Helene Bahu and Peter Otto. Dr Cabot shared slides from the project which had been given to him in advance of the session. It is expected that effort will result in an update to this document. The slides were uploaded to the Working Group document repository during the meeting. The hope is that the work will result in extensions to the SOFA toolbox as well as the AES69 standard.

New projects

It is possible that the effort described above may result in a new project as opposed to being developed as a revision to AES69.

AES31-2 and AES31-3 are up for reaffirmation or revision in 2024.

New business

No new business was proposed.

The next meeting will be held online in May 2024, scheduled in conjunction with the AES 156th Convention.
