AES57-R Review of AES57-2011 (r2017), AES standard for audio metadata - audio object structures for preservation and restoration
scope: To collect information on all metadata issues pertaining to digital audio objects and all aspects of the digital documentation of digital audio objects. This scope includes field structures to describe and provide access to the audio content contained in digital files. It includes transfer, preservation and restoration information.
The group has worked on this topic and has discussed the need of updating this document in close accordance with X255 Implementation of a recommended workflow for the creation and archiving of digital archival materials from professional audio production formats, to be developed by the group. As there will be numerous additions necessary, it was decided to reaffirm the document AES57 in the current status and proceed with revision when the status of X255 allows further updates. Therefore, in this meeting, AES57-2011 was reaffirmed.
AES-X255: (D255) AES Guidelines for Audio Preservation and Restoration - Digital Archiving of Professional Audio Production Formats
scope: Implementation of a recommended workflow for the creation and archiving of digital archival materials from (analogue but also digital) professional audio production formats, such as: Multichannel - multitrack, Quadraphonic formats (tape and disc), Noise reduction systems, and Surround sound.
The core group working on this document is meeting bi-weekly and has achieved good advancement in the development of this document. It was discussed to approach additional contributors from the P&E wing and the Motion Picture academy, to cover relevant topics of this document.
