Report of the meeting of the SC-04-08 Working Group on Measurement and Equalization of sound systems in rooms, held online, 2022-05-04

The meeting was chaired by Bruce Olson.

In attendance were Bruce Olson [BCO], Richard Cabot [RC], Brian Vessa [BV], Charlie Hughes [CH], David Murphy [DM], David Prince [DP], Eddy Brixen [EB], Fred Morgenstern [FM], Gunter Oehme [GO], John Woodgate [JMW], Samuel Moulin [SM], Tim Gladwin, [TM].

The formal notice on patent policy was read.

Minutes of previous meeting were accepted.

Projects assigned to this group but not mentioned here had no action requested or required - see www.aes.org/standards/meetings/project-status.cfm for details.

Development projects

AES-X218: Measurement and calibration of sound systems in rooms.
No progress, goals and targets were revised.

[SM] A document will be posted in regard to the work he has been doing related to mic positions for measurements.

AES-X219: Method of measurement for frequency and impulse response of sound systems in auditoria
Project remains postponed until there is some output of X218, goals and targets were revised.

Liaisons

[RC] No reports received from AES TC's involved in similar work.

[BV] Reported on current work in SMPTE 25CSS. Will post to the list encouraging involvement of members of this WG in the ongoing work there. The work they are doing is a subset of the work here. They are currently doing a literature review and will share it when completed.

New Projects

No new projects were proposed.

New Business

In light of both the Chair having resigned and the Vice-Chair position being empty for several years the Standards Chair solicited the group for volunteers to assume either position.

The next meeting will be scheduled in conjunction with the AES 153st Convention, to be held either face-to-face or online in October 2022.
