The meeting was convened by chair David Josephson. The patent policy notice was read and no objection was heard to the agenda or the 2020-10-07 meeting’s minutes.
In attendance were Richard Cabot, David Ranada, David Josephson, David Andrews, Scott Norcross, Ben Goldman, David Prince, Colby Leider.
AES-X258 remains in scoping mode. The chair reported on several papers to be published in JAES and Internoise in the next few months, and the FAA’s Neighborhood Environmental Survey https://www.faa.gov/regulations_policies/policy_guidance/noise/survey/ which calls into question much of the accepted doctrine on exposure/response to noise in communities. David Prince mentioned that several drone efforts are now considering single-event awakening statistics as a metric to track annoyance. The chair reported on existing guidance from the Federal Interagency Committee on Noise (e.g. https://fican1.files.wordpress.com/2015/10/findings_awakenings_1997.pdf) on this topic. Rich Cabot renewed the request for relevant papers to be uploaded to the SC-04-09 document site.
There is no liaison work now underway.
No new projects were proposed.
No new business was raised.
The next meeting will be scheduled in conjunction with the AES 151st Convention, to be held online in October 2021.
