The meeting was convened by chair M. Yonge.
The agenda and the report of previous meeting, held in New York, 2013-10-17, were approved as written.
Projects assigned to this group but not mentioned here had no action requested or required - see www.aes.org/standards/meetings/project-status.cfm for details.
AES-X212, HRTF interchange format
The most recent TG document had been discussed in the prior meeting of SC-02-08-E and a number of detailed revisions made. Because the application of this file format has expanded to include many kinds of spatial acoustic data beyond "HRTF", the title will be changed to, "Spatial Acoustic Data File Format".
The meeting welcomed the task-group draft. It was observed that an updated scope is needed to reflect the title change, plus some minor editorial work which will be done in the next 2 weeks. The formatted draft will then be posted to this working group for final comment prior to a public Call for Comment, and publication.
The meeting considered whether to register a MIME type in order to reduce ambiguity of ".sofa" file type and extension. The meeting also discussed how to keep database names unique: a formal registry was not felt to be workable in the medium term, but advice on choosing names to avoid future confusion would be useful.
MPEG
We have received a liaison statement from ISO/IEC TC29 (MPEG) supporting the X212 project.
No new projects were proposed.
There was a discussion of the opportunity to raise awareness of the Spatial Acoustic Data File Format document at the Los Angeles Convention in the fall.
The next face-to-face meeting will be held in conjunction with the AES 137th Convention, to be held in Los Angeles, CA., US., 2014-10
