The meeting was convened by SC-05 vice chair J. Woodgate.
The agenda and the report of the previous meeting held in San Francisco, 2012-10-27, were accepted as written.
Projects assigned to this group but not mentioned here had no action requested or required - see www.aes.org/standards/meetings/project-status.cfm for details.
Two standards, developed in this group, were published earlier this year:
AES65-2012, "AES standard for interconnections - Connector for surround microphones",
had been developed as AES-X189, and
AES66-2012, "AES standard for professional audio equipment - Application of connectors - Miniature XLR-type polarity and gender", had been developed as AES-X205.
No further actions were requested or required.
AES-X011: Fiber-Optic Audio Connections: Connectors and Cables Being
Used and Considered for Audio
This project was started in 1991, and the technology is evolving faster than the standard is being prepared. The Secretariat will encourage an effort to progress swiftly or retire the project.
AES-X123: XL Connectors to Improve Electromagnetic Compatibility
New text from J. Brown is not available. A final effort will be made by the Secretariat to resolve this issue.
Nascent AES-X199 Pluggable terminal strips
A Project Initiation Request (PIR) has been submitted, but a complication has arisen in that there are many variants of the pluggable connector concept on the market and in use. The Secretary was asked to send some survey data to the WG.
An informal liaison has been established between the Secretariat and the chair of IEC SC48B, who is kept informed of AESSC work involving connectors.
There was no new project.
There was no new business.
The next meeting will be scheduled in conjunction with the AES 135th Convention in New York, NY., US., 17 to 20 October 2013.
