The development and publication of AES standards documents is subject to our due-process rules, including the AES patent policy, published at http://www.aes.org/standards/development/rules.cfm

The Patent Policy encourages the early disclosure and identification of Patents that may relate to Deliverables under development. In doing so, greater efficiency in standards development is possible and potential patent rights problems can be avoided.

Patent-policy statements

The term, "general statement" covers all patents essential for implementing that standard held by that company, under an earlier form of our patent policy.
