Past Event: March 2024 Regular Bi-Monthly Meeting

March 11, 2024 at 6:30 pm

Location: PJ's Tavern, 123 West Jefferson, Kirkwood, MO 63122

Moderated by: Bill Schulenburg

Speaker(s): Josh Harris

The next regular meeting of the St. Louis Section of the Audio Engineering Society will be 6:30pm March 11, 2024 at PJ’s Tavern, 123 West Jefferson, Kirkwood, MO 63122

Thanks to member Chris Rathert for the suggestion of PJ’s and JD Trefney’s work in securing a confirmation of PJ’s space for our meeting on Monday evening March 11. We will do our best to set tables up in a way we can conduct our meeting and discussion while we enjoy dinner off the menu.

We’ll have the usual committee reports and event brainstorming plus a final preview of the Webster University Student AES Section’s Central Region Audio Student Summit, AKA CRASS, coming March 22-24. That is always an exciting weekend for our audio community. We’ll happily toast the success of the recurring last-Thursday-of-the-month AES “Hangs” that Events Chair JD champions. These evening get-togethers have been building in popularity, with the latest being an outstanding and well-attended night February 29th. Everyone’s looking forward to the next edition, so there’s plenty to talk about.

Speaking of audio talk, after the business meeting on March 11 we’ll hold a lively discussion among friends and colleagues on a provocative audio topic moderated by Vice-Chair Josh Harris. He’s chosen an interesting subject for March: Bluetooth. How have you implemented Bluetooth into your professional and/or personal life?  Do you love it or hate it?  Where do you see Bluetooth's development heading in the near future?

Looking forward to seeing all our St. Louis Professional and Student members, so please join us!

Hello AES members and friends,

We will hold our usual, short business meeting followed by group discussion led by Vice-Chair Josh Harris. The topic is still to be determined, but these conversations always deliver. There will also be a report by our Chair and other members who experienced it on the big International AES convention and trade show in New York which concluded just a couple weeks ago,

Past Event: St. Louis AES Regular September Meeting

September 18, 2023 at 7:00 pm

Location: Webster University, Sverdrup Hall Room 112 Webster Groves, MO

Moderated by: Bill Schulenburg

Thanks to CJ Muggs for some great memories! Unfortunately, our meetings’ home since 2008 has closed for good and it’s time to look for a new venue. Until we do, Carl Nappa generously offered to book a room at Webster University for this month’s meeting, so we’ll start there. Sverdrup 112. No food or drink there, though… all about audio next week!

The St. Louis section of the Audio Engineering Society’s next regular meeting will be on Monday Sept 18th at 7pm. We’ll be in Severdrup Hall Room 112. Student AES members are encouraged to attend.

After the brief business portion of the meeting and discussing ideas for a new meeting place, Vice-Chair Josh Harris will moderate the always popular audio discussion topics, and there will definitely be a lively discussion:

With the current overload of listening options and streaming platforms, how are you listening to music these days?  And what are the reasons behind that decision?

This should be an interesting, enjoyable, and educational conversation as always.

We’ll also talk about the great “happy hour” get-togethers organized by JD Trefney; their success has indicated they will become a regular thing traveling through many venues… Be on the lookout for an email blast from JD via MailChimp for monthly details!

So… Please mark your calendar and join us next week; Monday evening September 18, 7pm CT at Webster University Sverdrup room 112.

Other Business: With the current overload of listening options and streaming platforms, how are you listening to music these days? And what are the reasons behind that decision?
