The AES Finnish Section recording competition finals were held at the studio of Sibelius Academy in the recently built "The Music House" building in downtown Helsinki at 14:00 on the 26th of March, 2012. The winner of the competition received free flights and hotel to the upcoming AES convention in Budapest, Hungary, where he will participate in the AES student recording competition. After the competition was over we heard a presentation by Gary Gottlieb (St Louis Audio Project) over an online connection. The topic of his presentation was "What's wrong with audio education". The online presentation was a trial and proved to be challenging if the internet connection is not good enough. This time we had to do voice only after trying out a choppy video connection which terminated itself periodically. In the end it was still a pleasant experience and was liked especially by the student members who welcomed the possibility to ask questions from foreign experts of the field.
