Last Saturday, September 3rd, our Student Section met for a double event. On one hand we celebrated our friend and ex-president of our Student Section, Pamela Casasa, who has been accepted at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in Liverpool, Great Britain to continue her studies in audio. We wish her the best and know this will be a very exciting and important time for her personal and professional growth. Congratulations Pamela!
Another reason to celebrate is that our friend and Student Member of our Section, Edgar Ivan Osorio, returned from the AES Latin American Conference 2011 which took place in Montevideo, Uruguay, where his project participated and won in the Student Recording Competition. AES Sala de Audio-México Student Section received a public mention and a prize as one of the winners of the Recording. Edgar Ivan represented our Section and received the prize from Joel Brito, vice-president of AES Latin America. The project, which won in both the "Acoustic Recording" and the "Modern Studio Recording" categories, features the "Ensamble de Alientos de la Ciudad de México", conducted by Armando Cedillo.
Our Student Section would like to take this oportunity to thank everyone involved in the project and especially our school, Sala de Audio, as well as Sound:Check Magazine, for allowing Edgar Iván to live this amazing adventure. This experience has raised the bar and set a new standard at Sala de Audio, making us want to work harder in order to be able to participate with more and better samples of our work in upcoming AES events.
The meeting was a very happy event where our newer Student Members shared their questions and their dreams with some of our older, more experienced members.
