The Rioplatense Audio Gatherings were created as a key platform to promote knowledge exchange between audio professionals and students from both banks of the Río de La Plata. Like the first (2019) and fourth (2022) editions, the sixth Rioplatense Audio Gathering (2024) took place in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. On November 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., the "Fernando Cardani" room at the Bastion del Carmen Theater transformed into a venue for science, in this regional event led by the AES Argentina and AES Uruguay Professional Sections.
The day began with a presentation by Gustavo Costantino from Córdoba, who shared insights on "Monitoring Systems for Live Shows." Costantino covered industry challenges and effective solutions, emphasizing the need for adaptability and seamless collaboration when working with artists. He also discussed technological advances shaping live production and sound practices, highlighting key aspects for quality and efficiency.
In the second session, students Rocío Briga and Bartolomé Serra Muntaner from AES-TAMABA introduced their startup "Trigonix Audio," showcasing a plugin package that includes distortion, compression, delay, and tremolo effects. They invited attendees to download beta versions from their official site.
GCM Pro's presentation highlighted new professional sound solutions for large-scale events, covering systems that optimize sound based on spatial characteristics. Fernando Vera, an engineer from Resonar Ingeniería in Rosario, presented his production line, including microphones for strings, direct boxes, and monitoring headphone amplifiers.
The first raffle followed, where Bucci Clásicos awarded a 500 Series Compressor. After lunch, Alberto Pallas, Chairman of AES Uruguay, presented "Debunking RF Myths," covering common misconceptions in radiofrequency systems and strategies for stability.
Lucas Landini then explored "Acoustic Prediction for a Stadium," detailing the role of acoustic prediction in optimizing sound systems for large events. Gabriel Ortega from Jujuy closed the event with "Theory and Principles of Directivity in Line Array Systems." Ortega gave a live demo using RITA Analyzer software, explaining how to optimize line-array systems by interpreting data, providing practical insights.
A second raffle by Resonar Ingeniería added a touch of excitement. The support of sponsors like GCM Pro, Detec, dB Technologies, Instituto Terciario TAMABA, Bucci Clásicos, Equaphon, and Resonar Ingeniería was crucial.
Thanks to all speakers, especially Cesar Lamschtein, Alberto Pallas, and Christian Paladino, for their efforts. The vital exchange between professionals and students at each event fosters student transitions into the professional world within a supportive environment.
