Summary

The AES-TAMABA Student Section had a remarkable presence at the Education and Career Fair of the 155th AES Convention, held in October 2024 in New York. This event marked a milestone in the section's trajectory, as it was the third time this year that we participated in AES's most important international conventions.

On this occasion, guest professor Ezequiel Morfi was in charge of representing us in New York. On Thursday, October 8, from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM, he delivered the talk titled "Mastering Music - Busting Myths," which was part of the official convention program. In his presentation, Morfi debunked misconceptions about the mastering process, drawing the attention of students, professionals, and academics.

Additionally, Professor Morfi managed the official AES-TAMABA Student Section booth during the Education and Career Fair. At the booth, he answered questions and provided information about the Audio Engineering program at the TAMABA Institute, guiding visitors interested in pursuing education in the field of audio. This participation is also a source of pride, as we were the only Latin American Student Section at this international event, reaffirming the continuous work that the section has carried out throughout the year.

Throughout 2024, the AES-TAMABA Student Section has actively participated in major AES conventions. In June, students Brian Aras and Bartolomé Serra presented their works in the Student Recording Competition at the AES European Convention, held in Madrid. On that occasion, Ezequiel Morfi also delivered several talks and presentations, strengthening our presence in Europe.

In September, the AES-TAMABA Student Section had a prominent role at the AES LAC Latin American Audio Convention, held in La Paz, Bolivia. Ezequiel Morfi delivered the talk titled "Mastering: Busting Myths," critically addressing common misconceptions about the mastering process. Meanwhile, Gustavo González presented the talk "Guided Projects Method," focusing on the implementation of innovative pedagogical approaches in audio education.

Both professors also played a key role as judges in the Student Recording Competition. Ezequiel Morfi evaluated productions in Category 2, while Gustavo González was in charge of evaluating Category 4, bringing their expertise to assess student works and contribute to their growth in the audio field.

In October, during the Education and Career Fair at the 155th AES Convention in New York, AES-TAMABA stood out with a special focus on the presentation of its measurement and educational training software, developed under the direction of Professor Indio Gauvron. This software, which is free and open to the public, was introduced as a key tool for audio education, generating great interest among attendees. The software, available for download on the section's official blog, had previously been presented at AES LAC 2022 in Buenos Aires.

Finally, in November, the section will conclude the year with a key participation in the Rioplatense Audio Conference, which will take place on Tuesday, November 5, in Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. Students Rocío Briga and Bartolomé Serra Muntaner will present an R&D project focused on designing audio plugins, such as compressors, delays, and saturators, continuing the strong focus on technological innovation.

Without a doubt, 2024 will be remembered by the AES-TAMABA Student Section as the year of its international projection, consolidating its presence at the most important AES conventions and showcasing the high level of our students and faculty.

We keep growing!
