Speaker Name: Brian Scheffer; Daniel Ruder
Meeting Location: Webster University, Webster Groves, MO
To start off the new semester, Webster AES invited audio engineers, Brian Scheffer and Daniel Ruder, to host our first meeting on August 27th, discussing the balance of various creative and technical roles audio engineers encounter throughout their careers. The following week, We hosted our first Pizza meeting of the semester, welcoming in both new and returning students into the world of audio. The most prominent event hosted by Webster AES this semester was the Webster AES Concert series with performing artists such as Brain Amoeba, Cam Burns, Lemons, and The Public. The event was professionally run by Live Chairs, Emmie Whelan and Austin Nikolaison, with many other audio students invited to help set up the event. For the third meeting of the semester, we discussed album aesthetics, where students were invited to pick a song of their choice and talk about what they like from both an audio engineer's and a casual listener's perspective. On September 16th, we had an open discussion with students about mixing and knowing when a project is ready to be released. For the final AES meeting of August and September, we showcased drum kit miking techniques for various styles of music.
