We began our meeting with a little icebreaker, we went around the room and answered what our favorite genre of music is, as well as what our favorite genre of movie is.
We went over what AES is, the benefits of being part of AES, and encouraged students to sign up for an AES membership at the discounted student rate.
We talked about our upcoming events, everyone is especially excited for CRAS Live and Community Night!
We watched a video about guitar miking techniques, for both electric and acoustic guitars. The video had some cool recommendations on where to place the mics to get different effects out of the guitar sound. He recommended the AKG C414 XLS on an acoustic guitar if only using one mic. We are hoping to schedule a hands on demo "mic shootout" on acoustic guitar soon!
We wrapped up by talking about our subgroups (Shoutout to Zaya for planning a movie night for the songwriting subgroup! They will be watching Across the Universe) and clubs on campus, including the mentors and the Women of Audio group (Shoutout to Nancy!)
We mentioned the sound design contest, which will be judged next week! We are hoping for at least 10 submissions and if we get 10...we will potentially have a microphone as a prize!
Our free plugin of the week is going to be Graillon 2, a voice shifting plugin. See you all next week!
