Meeting Topic: 32 Sounds with OG
Speaker Name: Bryan Daize, Gerald Schoenherr
Other business or activities at the meeting: We had a brief AES meeting before the movie, talking about our current subgroup meeting times and encouraging students to turn in submissions for the sound design competition next cycle.
Meeting Location: Gilbert, AZ
We watched the documentary, 32 Sounds.
"An immersive documentary and profound sensory experience from filmmaker Sam Green that explores the elemental phenomenon of sound. The film is a meditation on the power of sound to bend time, cross borders, and profoundly shape our perception of the world around us.
32 Sounds exists in three unique and equally exciting forms: one for a live audience, complete with individual headphones for each audience member and featuring live narration by Sam Green and live original music by JD Samson; another specifically designed for a completely immersive at-home experience; and a theatrical version of the film coming to a theater near you.
The film premiered in January 2022 at the Sundance Film Festival."
We set up our Gilbert Live Sound room to receive signal from a laptop into all 12 of our M32R consoles, so participants could listed to the documentary in headphones. Everyone enjoyed it, and we had a great time getting to learn new things and hang out with Gerald AKA OG!
