Daniel Buck and Nir Averbuch joined CRAS students via Zoom on Sunday May 19th for a presentation on phase. Nir began talking about their flagship product, Auto Align, developed in 2009. We started talking about phase issues, and how they can occur, as well as the science behind phase cancellation. Nir showed us a Logic session with some guitar tracks that played out of phase first, and after utilizing the Auto Align plugin the issue had disappeared. When we record the same source with different microphones, this is what causes phasing issues. Nir spent some time showing some examples and visual aids, explaining what was happening at each step. We wrapped up with some questions, and chatted about some recording techniques.
