Dereck updates on account which stands at 831.40 after some donations.
Daniel starts with checking in on any updates from the website which is still WIP, but we decide not to post any upcoming event until the start of the new year, anyway.
Next Dereck checks in with Brewster to invite his thoughts on any upcoming events etc. Brewster brings up his connection with Fishman Audio and discusses having a meeting with them/sponsorship opportunity. Best time would most likely be in late April/early May. Brewster discusses the want for more engineering based events with BAES and suggests different talks or workshops i.e builder's workshops/soldering kits. All things we are getting together for 2024.
Brewster gives some background from previous audio builders workshops he's been involved in. We discussed needing to find a space to do this in and materials, soldering stations, etc. Otto suggests getting in with AES Berklee on their workspace. We already have potential options including Tufts University/Mass art/artist' asylum.
We decided to make the audio builders workshop a priority for the spring.
Dan fox then transitions to talking about other events lined up including Auralization - 3D Listening with Sonnox. An event with Genelec is also confirmed which would be a demo of an atmos room. RSVP cap will be low - set at 40. We determine for events where the cap is smaller - making them more exclusive - maybe first chance to rsvp to members only.
4.13 event confirmed at record co to have co-branding with BAES and focusrite/adam audio.
Sponsorship script - WIP from Dan, that we can all contribute to in a google doc. He discusses from his experience in grant writing and the nonprofit sector how we can go about reaching out to potential sponsors. Dan highlights some of our progress so far as a section:
-11% growth in AES Boston memberships Since June 2023
-200% growth of AES Boston social media accounts since June 2023
-5 events in 2nd half of 2023, with X more scheduled for 2024
-Event attendance: 20-60 so far, with larger gatherings expected in 2024
