The Latin American conference of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) for the Latin American and Caribbean region (LAC) took place in Quito, Ecuador, from September 18th to 22nd, 2023. It was a fully in-person conference that gathered various audio professionals and experts from around the world to discuss the latest trends in audio and sound technology.
Organizing a conference like AES LAC 2023 requires extensive organization and planning. The organizing committee worked tirelessly for over a year to ensure everything was ready on time. One of the major challenges was finding a suitable venue for hosting the conference.
We were joined at the conference by Bruce C. Olson, president of AES and Agnieszka Roginska past - president of AES and member of the Board of Governors.
Together with them and representatives of the professional sections of Latin America, we had two meetings, in the first one we discussed the organization of the AES LAC 2023 and the regional reality to host this type of events. In the second one, the venue for the AES LAC 2024 was decided, which will be La Paz, Bolivia.
The conference featured a wide range of highly qualified speakers from various countries (Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Panama, the United States, Germany, Spain) who covered various topics.
Overall, the AES LAC 2023 conference was a great success. Attendees had the chance to learn about the latest trends in audio technology and music and had the opportunity to connect and collaborate with other industry experts. Furthermore, the city of Quito, Ecuador, provided a stunning backdrop for the conference, with its rich history and vibrant culture.
