Meeting Topic: AES-EMC start-of-year event
Moderator Name: Christian Paladino (AES-Argentina), Federico Matta y Trejo (Chair)
Meeting Location: Escuela de Música Contemporánea (EMC), Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires, Argentina
Today, our start-of-year event was hosted. This yearly event basically consists in explaining the intricacies of AES to all interested EMC students in order to potentially attract new members to our Student Section. The event was hosted both virtually via zoom and in a face-to-face manner so as to attract as many people as possible.
This year, we had the pleasure of counting with the presence of not only the majority of the Executive Committee of AES-Argentina (Chair S. Gustavo González, Vice Chair Christian Paladino and Secretary Ezequiel Kosiner Blanco), but Jorge Azama, Vice President of the Latin American Region, as well. Whilst most of these authorities connected via zoom, Christian Paladino went a step further and personally showed up to the EMC with a PowerPoint presentation and proceeded to explain what AES is, how it is organized and what its mission is before delving deeper into the specifics of AES-Argentina in particular. Jorge Azama and S. Gustavo González would then make further contributions before giving way to the final part of the talk which was about AES-EMC as explained by its Chair Federico Matta y Trejo.
The event left us with mixed feelings: on one hand, we are honoured by the presence and contributions of so many AES authorities. On the other, we must admit that we were expecting a much larger audience to speak to. Regardless, we take pride in how well prepared we were and we are committed to learn from our mistakes so as to produce better results next year. In any case, we will try to attract the attention of potential new members by making sure our upcoming events for this year are well-marketed and full of interesting content. More on this in future reports.
