Meeting Topic: Weekly Meeting of the Student Section: Musical Production with two channels. Talk by Manuel Clemente
Moderator Name: Gustavo Gonzalez
Speaker Name: Manuel Clemente
Meeting Location: Buenos Aires
On Thursday, May 13, the student and member of the AES-TAMABA Student Section Board, Manuel Clemente, shared with the rest of the members the results obtained from the sound experiences related to the musical production that he is doing.
The research that was proposed to carry out has a self-imposed limit that consists of using the fewest possible tools in the recording of the sound, and then deploying all the necessary tools to condition the sound program in the mixing stage.
In this first installment he showed the results obtained in the recording made in two channels of an acoustic drums. For this, he used only a moving coil microphone and a condenser microphone. Once the research objectives had been developed, the attendees were able to listen together about the raw material produced to give rise to a dialogue on the techniques and arrangement of the microphones when recording.
In the second part of the meeting, the technical processes carried out in the mixing stage were studied in depth, which made it possible to enhance the artistic qualities of the performance, carrying out a detailed "step-by-step" analysis of each stage and executing a "test blind" in all processes.
