Meeting Topic: Sigma Sound Studios - A History in Pictures Film Screening
Moderator Name: Chip Powell
Speaker Name: Arthur Stoppe, Dirk Devlin, Jay Mark, Jim Gallagher and Joe Tarsia of Sigma Sound
Meeting Location: Zoom
25 year veteran Sigma Sound Staff Engineer Arthur Stoppe hosted an encore screening of his documentary film "Sigma Sound Studios — A History in Pictures" first presented in the "Historical Tract" of the 2020 AES Convention.
Arthur could have easily had a full career as a professional photographer. Thankfully for us he used those skills to capture the evolution of Sigma's physical infrastructure and the many personalities on each side of the glass who made the magic of the "Philly Sound" happen.
A Q&A session followed the film including fellow Sigma Engineers; Dirk Devlin, Jay Mark, Jim Gallagher and the man responsible for it all, Joe Tarsia. Lasting nearly as long as the film itself, the Q&A quickly became more of an "after party" of sharing stories and laughs at the wonder of it all. Moreover it stood as a reminder of why we do this work. For the love of the music and the community it brings together in common cause to spread joy.
