On September 15, 2009, the University of Hartford AES student section held its first general meeting of the fall semester. Our newly elected executive committee was announced: Colin Pfund, Chair; Terence Deutsch, Hartt Vice Chair (Hartt School of Music); Kimberly Powell, CETA Vice Chair (College of Engineering, Technology, and Architecture); Robert Neaton, Secretary; Jason Olenchak, Treasurer; Victoria Rheault, Hartt Events Coordinator; Luke Sherman, CETA Events Coordinator; Patrick Cull, Student Representative. Topics of discussion included semester goals, event and trip ideas, and information about the CETA recording studios.
Students were encouraged to join our Hartford AES Facebook group, and strongly encouraged to register for national AES via AES.org. Fifty-three attendees, primarily Audio Engineering Technology (CETA) students and Music Production and Technology (Hartt) students, provided email addresses for an updated contact list. Sign up sheets were passed for trips to New England Institute of Art's 2009 BADASS audio student summit and the 127th AES Convention. Names of those interested in helping at our fall concert were also collected. Student Jake Subin, CETA Studio Manager, explained the process of booking the CETA studios and announced the addition of two new Pro Tools rigs. Kyle Cofiell, Uhart's Student Television Network General Manager, stirred interest in the student-run broadcasting organization and announced an upcoming tour of its studios. Students were encouraged to attend Uhart's IEEE Student Chapter meetings, and plans to collaborate with the organization to prepare workshops were announced. Hope for an exciting and event-filled semester with a tighter Hartt-CETA relationship was expressed.
