We had around 37 people show up (undergraduate and graduate students) and participate in tuning drums from the various studios on campus. Professor Crabtree started off having everyone tune the toms and then we continued to the kick and snare. When tuning toms, he mentioned how it is easier to get the head tuned first and then to tune the bottom. With the kick drum, Professor Crabtree talked about the placement of a pillow or other dampening material inside the drum to provide a better sound. Finally, with regards to the snare drum, he mentioned placing moon gel on the head or some kind of weight (like a wallet) to help control the ring of the the snare.
