Meeting Topic: 2019 AES Mix Competition
Meeting Location: Bloomington, IN
The Indiana University AES chapter held a mixing competition, which featured prizes donated to us by Peluso Microphones and Shure. The 20 students who participated were given audio stems to mix in any way they saw fit. These stems came from a recording session that the AES chapter ran in Fall 2018. Participants then submitted these mixes to be judged by three professors in the audio engineering and sound production department: Jamie Tagg, Michael Stucker, and Jake Belser.
Once the results were in from the judges, the AES chapter hosted a listening party to announce the winners of the competition. Jared O'Brien and Grant Mitchell were the first place and runner-up contestants. Jared won a Peluso P-414, and Grant won a pair of Shure SRH940 headphones. AES at IU would like to give a huge thank you to Peluso Microphones and Shure, Inc for sponsoring this event!
