Students of varying skill levels from undergraduates to graduate students, enjoyed the presentation Joe West gave demonstrating some of his mic'ing techniques of drums and work flow. For instance, several were amazed at his use of microphone placement near the doors of the main tracking room for room microphones. He explained that placing microphones here allowed them to capture reflections from the door for a distinct sonic flavor. It was a great turn out as well as a wonderful learning experience for all who attended.
